oh...the things you hear in a hospital setting

in the heart cath lab...

we get called back to see Greg after his heart cath and we are waiting to see the doctor...they wheel a little old lady into the room right across from us and she was out of it...a very tiny little old lady, all you could really see was her face as her white hair blended into the white sheets and blankets...her family comes into see her and they wake her up by telling her "the doctor fixed you up and gave you a whole new life..." she replies by saying, "how, did he get me a new husband?" I cracked up laughing...they told her, "no, he cleaned your arteries out..." she said, "but I would like a new husband."

in the emergency room...

a young kid comes in wearing fatiques...he tells the front desk of the very busy emergency room, "there is nothing wrong with me, I just need a clean bill of health, my sergant sent me here cause I had bronchitis." they told him he would be there a really long time as he was low on the priority and he asked for directions to somewhere else...he then told anyone listening that all he needed was a clean bill of health...

2 asian kids come in and say, "I just doved (this was how he said it) into a pool and hitted my head..." they asked if he had a headache and he said, "no."

a young guy comes in and said "I am here for a cough..." they told him, he would be there awhile as they were busy and he said that he would wait...I never heard him cough one time the whole time I was there...

patient room

after his heart cath, Greg was sent to a new room, close to the nurse's station...he was supposed to lay straight for 6 hours...3 hours into the 6 hours, he felt a thud on his bed...turns out that his room mate (who had just had one stent put in before Greg) had gotten up to go to the bathroom and passed out on Greg's bed...he died...
so, relaying this story the brand new room mate, said, "how strange, the same thing happened to
me last night." we said, "how?" he said, "I was asleep and felt a thud on my bed...a little old lady had wandered into my room from across the hall and had passed out on my bed...they were still working on her as they took me to the cath lab so I don't know what happened to her."
how weird that that happened to both people on the same night???
