OMGoodness...this incident happened this morning, here it is 7:30 at night and I am still thinking about this...
went to the local drugstore (will not list particulars for this story) to get Zoe's monthly asthma meds and there was one girl ahead of me...
the conversation went something like this between her and the guy behind the counter...
him: ok, OMGosh this medicine is....
her: um you don't have to tell me how much it is...I know it is expensive...I have insurance and I just wish the carrier would get it together...this happens every single month and it is getting old...I was tired of the hassles they were giving me and so I paid for a year in advance and I am getting worse hassles...now, they have even sent me a refund check...I do not know what is going on but he needs his meds and....(she sort of trailed off at this point) and looked like she was going to cry...
him: that will be 875.00 please...
me: thinking I must have heard him incorrectly and am trying to pick my jaw up off the floor...
and then wouldn't you know that her credit card would not go thru...poor poor girl I felt so sorry for her...tried smiling at her and she was too upset as she said she would be right back...
now me, thinking I still had heard him wrong happened to look at the register and the amount was still lit up ($875 freaking dollars...REALLY????)
WHAT IN THE HECK IS WRONG WITH THE INSURANCE INDUSTRY HERE??? how in the heck can she pay that much money every single month???

a teacher and twins
so, I love running into someone and right off the bat, you know you would make good friends...was at Ralph's getting balloons for Tim and Zoe's return from Japan...a girl walks in the door with a twin stroller with a little boy sitting and a little girl walking...they were both in jammies...the little girl was blonde and the little boy brown hair like Zoe's...cute little kids...at first, I was going to be a little critical of them being in jammies...but, they were cute, they were clean and IT WAS first thing in the morning...one thing I need to learn to do, is not be so critical of people, it is a bad fault of mine...
so, the guy behind the balloon counter offered her 2 balloons and she said that she would wait for the balloons till she was done shopping...since the twins were using their voices more, she was trying to teach them some patience...I said to her that she looks like she has a lot of patience...
turns out she is a teacher and she was teaching kindergarten till she went back after having the babies and she told her supervisors, "no more kindergarten." she now teaches 4th grade...so we talked about homeschooling Zoe and she asked "why?"
and I told her my passionate story about teachers...how I came to discover that teachers have your child more hours in a day then you actually see them awake...and when you get assigned a certain teacher, you know nothing about the person that will have them more then you do, and what if it is someone that normally you would never have around your child in the first place???
you are entrusting your most precious thing in the world to someone, who you do not even know, and what they are like, what they do every day in the classroom, when you are not there...she was aghast at some of our stories about how someone we all know and love was made to run around the playground and also to jumprope (everyone in my class runs and jumps was my explanation) even after she was diagnosed with a hole in her heart and 2 valve problems with her heart...how when same child was short of breath was told she could not sit in office during recess...I did tell her that we had wonderful teachers for several grades before pulling her, but how can you know for sure what and who you are getting each year??? I was severely disappointed in one certain teacher and we could not risk her health ever again...also..............
my friend across the street is the most gentle, christian, the best mom and she told me that her daughter, who is like her mom, a warm gentle, giving little soul, the best behaved child a great christian, who would come home several times a week and say that the teacher would cuss at kids...REALLY??? and this woman is the one that turned me onto the fact that your child is at school more than you see them awake, and this teacher that cussed at the kids is someone that in her child's every day life is someone my friend would never ever had around her children...she is very protective about who is around them and here she was saddled with this horrible person...
this girl in Ralph's does not teach in our district, but was so upset about all the experiences I spoke of...
she had to leave as the little boy was getting real ansy but, she was a real pleasure to talk to and I could have talked much longer to her...
she said in clsong, "oh, I hope to see you again..."
cute...now her I would absolutely adore to have for a teacher...she told us many stories about the children she has and has had and even when they have health problems how understanding she is and has been...her brother also died at an earlier age of Marfans syndrome (they did think the princess had this at one point...)
