@ Sam's Club

raining in Mo Val this morning at the commissary and at Sam's...needed my jacket...heartwarming observation at Sam's today...(Mona P you will appreciate) 15 challenged young people with 4 caretakers all eating the pizza or hot dog deal (how can you go wrong for 1.50)...what got to me that the caretakers were very caring and it tugged at my heart just a tad...as they went by each kid they would pat... them on the back, cut their pizza for them, talked and laughed with each one...I have seen other caretakers be mean to their charges and this was so refreshing to see these kids happy, laughing and smiling and having a good time...this one kids was in a "hi, how are you?" mood over and over to me but, I was game as long as he was happy...I do not have the patience for this type of work but lots of kudos for these people today...
·
if this had been my child, I would want them cared for exactly like they were today...

the other thing that happened at Sam's...Ross went to get charcoal while I went to stand in line for hot dogs...as I was passing him in line to get a table, he had everyone in line wave to me and call out to me...nice way to embarrass me, honey...

things kids say

walking to school in the mornings is oh so cold, will someone please remind me next time I am out to buy another pair of mittens, can never find mine when I need them...
the one good thing about mornings is you get good conversation from an 11 year old...
her: it was so hard being me yesterday
me: ummm, why?
her: everyone was so glad to see me back (from being out all week sick) that ALL of the... girls were crowded around me
me: that is a good thing, right?
her: well, yeah
me: so, what was the problem?
her: there were so many girls, cause even the girls that are mean to me were glad to see me back...
me: (we had a little talk about how she better not ever be one of those mean girls and believe me they can be mean in 5th grade...)
her: no grandma, I never would be, I didn't even get to eat all of my food...
me: why?
her: cause I did not want anyone to feel bad that I was not paying attention to them, so I tried to space my time out for each person...even the mean girls got as much attention as my friends...
me: you are a good girl

wierd day

weird day one of those you will say could only happen to Shayne...went to doctor's to get my lab slip, waiting for him to fill out...this lady in a wheel chair, conversation went like this:
lady: hey you
me: yes mam
lady: you are not pretty at all
me: ummm OK
... lady: (to her daughter) she is really ugly (her daughter told her to shush)
really I could not make this stuff up people...
so trying to get conversation away from her, there was a cute girl (maybe 20) who had down's syndrome and she loved her magazines...when she was putting one away back on the shelf, (I spied a Crazy 8 coupon inside of it) I said to the girl
me: if you are done with that magazine, do you mind if I see it
her: no it is mine (& promptly put it back on the doctor's shelf)
wait I am not done yet...and you can laugh now if you want to...
took my scooter up to the hospital to have additional blood work needed for the ct scans...
I am passing these 3 guys at the bus stop and they all in unison, "ohhhhh baaaabby, come here, baaaabby."
I shall now file this under very weird days...are you laughing now?

sad day

at a certain bus stop on Magnolia an old homeless lady sits day in and day out...thru all kinds of weather, she is there...at night she covers herself and her cart with a big black blanket, last night? someone egged her, with a ton of eggs, they were everywhere...
I have nothing else to say, I was sad...

baby skunks

tim got me this book for Christmas about making your life happy and in it, it says to find as many things each day that make you smile...so for the last couple of days I have done that...want to share only one...coming back from 7-11 last evening on my scooter (buying lotto tickets) it was still light outside and in the middle of the sidewalk was (what I thought) a little black and white kitten......now I do not care all that much for cats, but this one was kinda cute, on it's back with it's paws in the air, scratching it's back on the sidewalk...it heard me approach and it stood up, looked at me, and then sort of freaked out and started coming at me backwards with it's tail in the air...yeah...you guessed it, it was a baby skunk...LOL

va hospital

VA hospital is notoriously hard to get hold of anyone there...for 2 days I have tried to call him...finally this am asked for the nurse's station and told them to transfer me that way...got thru to his room, and the nurse picked the phone up...
her: he is asleep and I don't want to wake him
me. well, I have not talked to him, and I want to know what is going on
so she woke "him" and they had given me the wrong room...feel kinda bad I had the wrong guy woken up...

my darling grandson

babysit the 4 year old every T-Th now as he is giving the other grandpa "big time" problems (like mixing dish soap & yogurt and putting on his sister's bed, when grandpa takes a shower...) so umm ya...the other 3 days he started preschool so here is a 4 yr old conversation:
me: how was school yesterday
him: good, they teached me spanish (& he has only gone for 2 days)
me: tell me something in spanish
him: TACO
I laughed and laughed...it was so funny

ESP

this happens all of the time, but 2 instances...
I swear Tim and I have ESP...
Saturday, we were trying to think of a place to eat that we haven't been to and I was thinking Shakey's but I did not think it was Tim's kinda place (turned out it wasn't) so I didn't say anything and all of a sudden, he says, "hey let's try Shakey's...weird huh?
then this morning, I took hamburger out of the freezer to make sloppy joes for dinner and just now, Tim emails and says, "how about sloppy joes for dinner?" I love me some Tim...

wal mart

everyone that knows me at all, knows how much I hate H.A.T.E. Wal Mart and they know the reason that I do...saying that, tho, I still shop there even tho I do not want to...I just wish another store would
offer the everyday items as cheap as Wal Mart does...
went to our Wal Mart in the morning as I got bleach on a new tee that I had just gotten and our Wal Mart did not have the shirt...hubby said we would go to the other one the next day...OK...but he got up from his nap and we went this afternoon...
3 things happened in Wal Mart I have to tell you about...
found my tee, yay...and then I went to the shampoo aisle...looking for a leave in conditioner for Zoe's hair...I hate her hair lately and while on that aisle, there were 2 teenaged boys there, trying to find the perfect hair products...I wasn't really paying attention to them till one said, "OMG what do we do?  I don't know what to do, this is the hardest decision I have ever had to make in my whole life..."  then they proceed to call someone to ask what to buy...
secondly...on the next aisle I hear a guy ask a sales associate a question and the next thing I hear is him get very huffy with the girl and he says, "I asked you a damn question, you are very rude not answering me, I am going to get a mgr and report your ass for not being very cooperative, effing b****" and he did, and came back with a mgr and reports the girl and the mgr tells the guy that the girl is deaf...ummmm yeah...
then checking out I had the checker from h***...never said hello or anything...I give her my credit card and she informs me she could not take it as it had hubby's name on it, not mine...I was pissed...find hubby, make him go back and the checker and the next customer in line were laughing...
